- The Neogen® Quick Swab is a ready-to-use environmental swab system consisting of a five inch, rayon-tipped swab containing a Letheen neutralizing buffer to facilitate recovery of bacteria.
- The unit is self-contained and ready to use (no preparation of diluents, no separate pipetting required).
- It’s designed specifically for environmental monitoring—sampling surfaces (including hard-to-reach areas) and transferring those samples directly onto testing media (e.g., plates) for microbial analysis.
How it works
- You use the swab to sample a surface: you can use it “wet” (buffer in tip active) or “dry” depending on need.
- After swabbing, you can transfer approximately 1 mL of the collected sample from the swab system directly onto a testing plate (for example a Petrifilm plate by Neogen) for further enumeration.
- The Letheen neutralising buffer helps counteract leftover sanitizer on surfaces, such as quaternary ammonium compounds, so it doesn’t interfere with recovering microorganisms. This makes the swab results more dependable.
- Its simple, self-contained design cuts down on preparation work by removing extra pipetting and dilution steps, and it also helps ensure more consistent sampling between different users and areas.
